February 19, 2026

Dr. Andrew Harrington joins RUMC’s Department of Surgery expanding vascular care services for Staten Island

Richmond University Medical Center (RUMC) is proud to announce Andrew Harrington, MD, as its new Chief of Vascular Surgery. A board-certified surgeon, Dr. Harrington will lead the hospital’s Division of Vascular Surgery.

“As a vascular surgeon at Richmond University Medical Center, I am dedicated to providing comprehensive, high-quality care to patients with complex vascular conditions,” Dr. Harrington said. “Serving this community is deeply meaningful to me and I’m committed to delivering advanced treatment with compassion and precision. I believe excellent care is built on trust, communication, and a genuine investment in my patients’ well-being.”

A native New Yorker practicing for over 10 years, Dr. Harrington is duel certified in Surgery and Vascular Surgery by the American Board of Surgery. Experienced in treating diseases of the veins and blood vessels, he specializes in treating a variety of acute and chronic conditions including peripheral vascular disease, venous embolism and thrombosis, venous insufficiency, and varicose veins.

“We are thrilled to have Dr. Andrew Harrington join the RUMC family as our Chief of Vascular Surgery,” said Loren Harris, MD, FACS, FCCP, Chair of RUMC’s Department of Surgery and its Chief of Thoracic Surgery. “He has extensive experience in all vascular techniques – both open and endovascular – and in the treatment of arterial and venous disorders.”

Prior to joining RUMC, Dr. Harrington was affiliated with Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center, where he practiced since completing his vascular surgery fellowship in 2022. He received his bachelor’s degree from John Hopkins University and his medical degree from the Humanities and Medicine Program at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, graduating with Distinction in Research. He completed his general surgery residency at Mount Sinai West and Mount Sinai Morningside, followed by fellowship training in vascular surgery at Stony Brook University Medical Center. He is also a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation.

In addition to performing surgeries at RUMC, Dr. Harrington will also provide outpatient services and surgical consultations as a member of RUMC’s Richmond Health Network. His office is located at 1058 Forest Avenue at the corner of Forest Avenue and Manor Road.
