Status: Per Diem
Current RN License in State of New York and DOH-Certified SAFE Training
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, bachelor’s preferred. Minimum of two (2) years of experience working as a RN preferably with ED background
The SAFE nurse will;
- Provide timely, compassionate, patient-centered care to patients presenting after sexual assault to include evaluation, treatment, and referral and follow-up.
- Ensure the quality of collection, documentation, preservation and custody of forensic evidence as outlined by the New York Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner training and RUMC policy/protocol.
- Work with our incredible interdisciplinary team as well as our community partners with the (local rape crisis program, prosecutors, and other necessary serve providers to effectively meet the needs of the sexual assault victim and the community.
- Provide expert testimony when needed if the patient chooses to report the crime to law enforcement
- Communicate with Law enforcement if patient desires/ situation necessitates
- Willing and able to attend additional training/case reviews as requested/required
Complexity of Work: Requires compassion, critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment.
