Francesco Rotatori, MD, FACC was born and raised in Italy. He completed his Medical School in Milan and in the same city he obtained specialization in Cardiology at the Centro Cardiologico Monzino.
Subsequently he moved to New York City with his wife Susanna and together they have four children. After two years working in basic science research, he proceeded to obtain a full US training in Internal Medicine, Cardiology and finally Interventional Cardiology. During this time, he had the opportunity of working in a variety of hospitals in Brooklyn and Staten Island, under the Institution of SUNY Downstate Medical Center.
In 2014, he started his own private practice, with offices in different boroughs of New York City. Subsequently, in 2017 he joined Richmond University Medical Center in Staten Island, initially as Associate Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, then as Associate Chief of Cardiology and for the past three years as Chief of the same department.
He holds Board Certifications in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology, and Echocardiography granted by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). At RUMC, he provides prevention and invasive treatment to thousands of patients from across the New York-New Jersey Metropolitan Area.
In 2021, he completed an executive MBA from the Quantum School of Business and Technology and he has participated in numerous hospital performance initiatives. He is actively involved in RUMC’s Board Strategic Planning Committee as well as Hospital Quality. He served as Vice President of the Medical Staff prior to his appointment as President.
He was recipient of the 2020 New York City Landmark Hero Award from the New York Landmark Conservancy for his frontline work during the COVID-19 pandemic and in 2022, received the President’s Business Award from the South Shore Rotary Club for his work in the community.
