The Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Therapy
At our Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Therapy, we provide comprehensive, specialized care for patients with chronic, complex, and non-healing wounds. Our goal is to help wounds heal, reduce discomfort, prevent complications, and improve each patient’s quality of life.
Our multidisciplinary team brings together specialists in wound care, plastic surgery, general surgery, vascular surgery, and podiatry. Working collaboratively, we develop an individualized treatment plan based on each patient’s condition, medical history, and specific wound care needs.
We specialize in the treatment and management of:
- Non-healing wounds
- Diabetic ulcers
- Complex wounds requiring advanced treatment.
- Wounds associated with poor circulation or other underlying medical conditions.
- Wounds that may benefit from hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
When to Consider Specialized Wound Care
Some wounds require more than routine care to heal properly. You may benefit from an evaluation at our Center if you are experiencing:
- A wound that is slow to heal or has not healed.
- Ongoing pain or discomfort related to a wound.
- A wound that is affecting your mobility or quality of life.
- A diabetic ulcer or other recurring wound.
- A wound that has not improved despite previous treatment.
If you have been living with a difficult-to-heal wound, you do not have to manage it alone. Our experienced clinical team offers advanced wound care and hyperbaric therapy in a comfortable, hospital-based setting, with a treatment plan designed specifically for you.
The sooner a non-healing wound is evaluated, the sooner the right treatment plan can begin. Our team is here to help patients heal, regain comfort, and get back to the activities that matter most.
Treatments
Every wound is different. At our Center, we develop an individualized treatment plan based on the type and severity of your wound, your overall health, and the factors that may be affecting healing. Depending on your needs, treatment may include:
- Advanced Dressings and Compression Therapy: Specialized dressings, wraps, compression stockings, and other wound care products may be used to protect the wound, control swelling, manage drainage, and create an environment that supports healing.
- Negative Pressure Wound Therapy: This advanced treatment uses controlled negative pressure, or suction, over the wound to help remove excess fluid and support the healing process.
- Transcutaneous Oxygen Monitoring (TCOM/TCPO2): This noninvasive test measures oxygen levels in the tissue surrounding a wound. The results can help our specialists evaluate blood flow and determine whether certain treatments, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy, may be appropriate.
- Debridement: Debridement removes dead, damaged, or unhealthy tissue from a wound to help promote healing. The type of debridement used will depend on the wound and the individual patient’s needs.
Additional Testing and Support
Because successful wound healing often depends on identifying and treating underlying medical conditions, your care plan may also include blood tests, vascular studies, or other diagnostic testing. When additional support is needed at home, our team can also help coordinate appropriate home care services, including visiting nursing services.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO₂) is a noninvasive outpatient treatment that can help the body heal certain difficult-to-treat wounds and medical conditions. The treatment is prescribed by a physician as part of an individualized care plan.
During hyperbaric oxygen therapy, you breathe 100% oxygen while resting comfortably inside a specially designed, pressurized chamber. The increased pressure allows your blood to carry more oxygen to tissues throughout the body.
This increased oxygen can help:
- Support the body’s natural healing process.
- Deliver additional oxygen to damaged or poorly healing tissue.
- Promote the formation of new blood vessels.
- Help the body fight certain types of infection.
- Support healing when used along with other wound care treatments.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy may be recommended for certain non-healing wounds, including some diabetic wounds, as well as other medical conditions where increased oxygen can support healing and recovery.
What does treatment feel like?
During treatment, patients relax comfortably inside the hyperbaric chamber while breathing oxygen. Our specially trained team monitors each treatment and is available throughout the session to ensure your comfort and safety.

Patient Education and Ongoing Care
Understanding your care is an important part of the healing process. Our team takes the time to explain your wound, your treatment plan, and the steps you can take at home to support healing and help prevent future wounds. Throughout your care, we will:
- Explain your treatment plan and answer your questions.
- Provide guidance on caring for your wound at home.
- Help you understand steps you can take to reduce the risk of future wounds.
- Educate family members or caregivers involved in your care, when appropriate.
- Keep your physician informed of your progress.
Wound care is a collaborative effort. We work closely with your primary care physician and other healthcare providers to help ensure continuity of care. Once your wound has healed and specialized wound care is no longer needed, you will return to your physician for ongoing medical care.
