RUMC to Hold 2nd Annual 5K Run/Walk in Clove Lakes Park on Saturday, Sept. 8th

July 18, 2018 – Richmond University Medical Center (RUMC) will hold its second annual 5K run/walk on Saturday, September 8th at Clove Lakes Park. The event will help support the pediatric unit in the hospital’s new Emergency Department. The race will kick off at 10 AM. Registration is open on-line now, day of registration will begin at 8 AM.

Building off of last year’s inaugural run, where over 350 people participated, this year’s event promises to provide another exciting chance for Staten Island’s running community to support a good cause. “The support generated by this event will help us obtain the very best technology and equipment for the pediatric unit, which will help us provide the very best care for our youngest patients and their families” Daniel J. Messina, RUMC

President and CEO, said. An avid runner himself, Messina has finished the New York City Marathon several times.

The registration cost is $35 for runners, $30 for walkers if they register before race day. Registration the day of the race is $40 for runners, $35 for walkers. Runners can participate individually or as part of a team.

Awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers, as well as the top three male and female finishers in the following age groups: 1-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80 and over.

Runners who would like to help raise additional support for the pediatric unit will have a chance to win prizes including backpacks, windbreakers, and an opportunity to be recognized on the Donor Wall in the Emergency Department.
