Joanne Pietro joined the RUMC family in February 2021, after serving as Associate Executive Director for the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science and the Department of Research at Staten Island University Hospital, Northwell Health. Her recent experience includes development and implementation of mental health and substance use disorder DSRIP programs, program development and expansion in outpatient mental health and HIV services, and the development of the Opioid Overdose Prevention Program at Staten Island University Hospital.
She has received various awards for her work in the community and her achievements including the Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) Stanley/Smith Award, NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), New York State Women Inc., and the Staten Island NFP (Not For Profit) Association.
She remains active in the community and serves on the Board of Directors for NYS Women Inc. and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), where she continues her involvement in community education.
Mrs. Pietro received her B.S.N. from the College of Staten Island. She holds a certificate from Cornell University “Academy for Healthcare Leadership Advancement” and an M.S. in Mental Health and Wellness with a focus on Prevention from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona.
Mrs. Pietro lives in Staten Island with her husband Robert. They are the parents of Marissa Cinelli and Dr. Rebecca Pietro.
